Grithm / Turn YouTube videos into notes
Turn YouTube videos into notes
Share a YouTube video or Short to Grithm and get a clean note: a title, the key points as bullets, and a link back to the video. No copying, no pausing to type.
Know someone who saves videos they never get round to? Send them the link.
How it works
- In the YouTube app, tap Share under the video.
- Pick Grithm from the share sheet.
- Grithm reads the video’s transcript and writes the note. You can keep watching, or close the app.
What you get
Every note has a title, a short summary, the main points as bullets and the video’s thumbnail. The source link takes you straight back to the video, so the creator gets the credit and you can rewatch the part you need.
Grithm works from the real transcript, not just the title and description. For long videos, or videos with no captions, it transcribes the audio first, so those take a little longer.
Why not just use Watch later?
Watch later and playlists save the link, not what you learned. Six months on you have a list of 200 thumbnails and no idea which one had the tip you remember. A Grithm note is searchable text, so you can find that tip by searching for a word in it.
Add your own notes
Write your own thoughts under any note. They sit in a separate, clearly marked part, and the AI never overwrites them. Pick a few notes on the same topic and Grithm combines them into one synthesis, which is handy for a lecture series or a playlist on one subject.
Questions
Does it work with YouTube Shorts?
Yes. Share a Short the same way as any other video.
Does it work with long videos?
Yes. Long videos take longer because Grithm transcribes them first. The note appears in your library when it is ready.
Do I need to copy the link?
No. Use the Share button in the YouTube app and pick Grithm. You can also paste a link inside Grithm if you prefer.
